MEET SOPHIA

The Sophia smart contract language is the functional mark-up language (ML), created to better utilize the potentials of the æternity protocol.

Sophia is a OCaml-like language with syntax mostly resembling that of Reason. Sophia by design protects contract designers against vulnerabilities that can be exploited. It is designed as a contract language with security and user comfort in mind.

Oracles are services that send, receive and verify real world occurrences and submit this information to smart contracts, triggering changes and thus allowing the blockchain to communicate with off-chain entities. Whilst most blockchains need to partner up with other projects just to provide them with oracles, which usually hampers efficiency and increases the cost of transactions, æternity has had oracles built into the chain from the very beginning.
